If one edge of a razor-blade is used for one shave and is kept unused for about ten days, it regains its sharpness. So after two shaves with the two edges of a blade, keep it at a bottom of the blade pocket. It should be used again after eight days, after the fifth blade has been used. Thus, a medium quality Indian shaving blade-packet of five can be used for eight months. Shaving blades have their edges numbered. Because it helps in identifying the edge of the blade in use.
